Moringa Nurseries and Plantation-II
District Sanghar is one of the underprivileged and drought affected districts of Sindh where food insecurity, malnutrition, poverty, and disaster risks intersect. The consequence of drought conditions, cultivation of low nutrition crops/trees in Sanghar has chronically affected population particularly pregnant women and children. Malteser International and DevCon intend to address the malnutrition problem by promoting locally low cost nutrition food by introducing use of Moringa Tree.
Project Description
This was the second phase of Moringa cultivation and distribution to communities to help them increase their nutrition status with this plant. Based on its previous experience in the first phase, DevCon team, this time, was better equipped with adequate experience, technical knowledge and viable mobilization strategies. Though Covid-19 was an obstacle in community mobilization, yet taking care of all the safety standards, Team effectively mobilized communities for a successful plantation drive.
