Establishment of Moringa Nurseries and Plantation at community level in district Sanghar (Ph-I)

District Sanghar is one of the underprivileged and drought affected districts of Sindh where food insecurity, malnutrition, poverty, and disaster risks intersect. The consequence of drought conditions, cultivation of low nutrition crops/trees in Sanghar has chronically affected population particularly pregnant women and children. Malteser International and DevCon intend to address the malnutrition problem by promoting locally low cost nutrition food by introducing use of Moringa Tree.

Project Description

Under this project DevCon established nurseries of Moringa and mobilized communities by raising awareness among them on the wide range of health, nutrition, and medical benefits of this plant. The primary objective/aim of this assignment was to establish two Moringa nurseries, in two selected Union Councils and distribute Moringa plants and promote plantation in communities to meet the challenges of food insecurity and economic empowerment.
